HOW WILL YOU BE TAUGHT?

The courses are delivered in intense teaching blocks, so you can choose to study either full-time or part-time. Learning is delivered via lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars, as well as your individual project (MSc only).

For Civil Engineering, the taught element of your course (MSc and PGDip) takes place in the first year of the programme, and your individual research project (MSc only) will be undertaken in the second year.

Teaching and MSc research project supervision will be conducted in partnership between academics on our Dubai campus, and in our Edgbaston Campus in the UK. You will also have the opportunity to interact with our students in our Edgbaston whilst you study at our Dubai campus. Throughout the programme, there will be opportunity to learn from various industrialists who will add enrichment to the learning provided and support for research projects directly linked to current and future needs of the industry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be considered by the University of Birmingham Dubai, you will need to meet our entry requirements as well as the specific entry requirements of your chosen programme.

Civil Engineering MSc - 2 years or 4 years part-time

What will you study?

Civil Engineering is the key to many of the issues affecting our lives today. Civil Engineers solve problems, and design, build and maintain our living and working spaces. You might design a new stadium, work on a local by-pass or railway line, assess a damaged structure, provide immediate and safe drinking water to a refugee camp, or manage a multi-million-pound construction project.

Taught modules will include: Engineering Production and Risk Management in Construction, Geomechanics, Structural Engineering, Sustainable Construction, Systems Engineering, and Water Engineering and Management.

Construction Management MSc - 1 year or 2 years part-time

What will you study?

Our Construction Management programme provides advanced training to graduates to develop your construction management skills, enabling you to play a leading role in a professional capacity within both the civil engineering and building industries. The skills gained will provide you with the ability to respond to changing requirements of the construction industry in both the UAE and overseas.

Taught modules will include: Construction Management, Engineering Production and Risk Management in Construction, Marketing and Financial Management, Organisational and Operations Management, Strategic Innovation Management, and Sustainable Construction.
